Shannon Stearns Associate MFT (AMFT99627)
Shannon has been implementing DBT with adolescents, adults, couples, and families for over a decade, beginning in inpatient and residential settings and continuing into outpatient and private practice. She is passionate about the evidenced impact of DBT and its ability to empower and inspire clients who experience emotional dysregulation and intense interpersonal pain. Shannon has extensive experience treating anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, identity issues, relationship distress, and addiction, and is dedicated to the application of integrative, trauma-informed, attachment-focused approaches with all individuals, partners, and families she treats. She additionally aims to help clients identify and amplify areas of strength, passion, and positive association in their lives.
Shannon has advanced degrees in psychology, counseling, philosophy, consciousness, and East-West wisdom traditions, all of which inform and enhance her alliance with clients and their exploration of life purpose and affirmative personal meaning. She is originally from the East Coast and obtained her first graduate degree from the New School in New York City before relocating to the Bay Area in order to explore depth approaches to psychotherapy and the transpersonal at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, followed by Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. Shannon identifies as a lifelong learner impassioned by expanding awareness of optimal therapeutic practices in attempts to guide clients toward transformational healing and the actualization of their dreams.
